VALLEY VIEW – A state grant was recently awarded to Hegins Township to fund the construction of a new municipal building, according to Rep. JoAnne Stehr (R-Northumberland/Schuylkill) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-Carbon/Luzerne/Schuylkill), who worked to secure the funding.
“I am so grateful this grant has been awarded to Hegins Township to help build a new municipal building,” said Stehr. “Hegins currently does not have a dedicated municipal building, so township and board of supervisor meetings are held in the garage. This is excellent news and a very important investment in our community that we never before had the funding to make happen.”
“My district offices are a key piece of my efforts to represent the people of Schuylkill, Carbon, and Luzerne Ccountyies in the state senate,” said Argall. “Thanks to this highly competitive state grant, Hegins Township will now have a MUCH-improved space to serve their over 3,300 residents.”
This grant was awarded from the Local Share Account Statewide Program. LSA projects improve the quality of life of citizens in the community. Eligible projects must be owned and maintained by an eligible applicant or a nonprofit organization. Over $1.8 million was awarded to projects in Schuylkill County from this program earlier this year.
